@lpasepok Well, since damaging her voice a few years back, she often sings whispery songs. When she goes over a whisper you hear the rasping effect of the damage to her vocal chords. Kills me every time I hear it. It's such a shame and 95% of postings on youtube are of her singing since the damage. Go seek out her work in the 90's and you'll see the huskiness isn't there.

I wish P J Harvey consider this perpective( with regard to "telling" music what to do & take a page from Kristin's book.Love them both- two different approaches though.

Kristin is awesome! I love what she says about the brain being the first organ to lie! As a poet/artist myself, I find her creative process intriguing.

Someone please respond:

The word is "anthemic." Used a lot in rock criticism to describe songs with a kind of rousing, sing-a-long chorus--often 'arena' rock ("We Will Rock You"); but also punk rock (some of the Clash and Ramones stuff can be described as anthemic).
-
What does enthemic mean?
-
It's a rare thing when the musician is as interesting as the music.
