OMSI - Der Omnibussimulator
========================

This video shows you a test I've done to compare braking distances of MAN SD200 - SD77 and MAN SD202 - D92. While the first old bus doesn't have an ABS and ASR systems, D92 have both of them (however only ABS does help you when braking).

The result is shocking. Most of you probably thought that the newest bus with ABS and ASR will brake much faster than the old crappy (is it really crappy?) MAN SD200 - SD77. But contrary is the case, the bus without ABS has got same or even shorter braking distance than the bus with ABS.

And why? I don't know. First of all, the newer bus may be heavier. Also it's possible that the ABS is wrongly configured in the bus and it releases the brakes too often (in the snowy conditions part, you can see that the ABS signal light is lit almost all the time). And the last possibility is that the simulation in OMSI isn't that great as should be and: 1) ABS simulation is wrong, or 2) braking without ABS simulation is wrong.

Thanks for watching and remember: It doesn't matter what bus you drive, you should always drive safe. :-)

  • How did you turn off the ABS? Can't find the instructions to do so. Can only turn off traction control. Which one's the ABS?

  • @minxinglee You cannot. I used different buses, look at 4:25. :)

  • Yeah, I know that you may have longer braking distance with ABS. I didn't realize it when I was commenting the video. Even so I think it's an interesting video. :)

  • ABS is just there to keep the vehicle manoeuvrable in a hard braking, not for having a shorter braking distance...

  • Velice pěkné.. :)

  • that was actully insresting

  • well. I have heard the same bout ABS making chorter distanse to brake on. but it are only for you chuld be albe to use the steelwheel to manoeuvrable the bus.

  • @skinnylee2 yes I've noticed after I comment :)

But indeed abs is a nice thing on buses eheh

  • @deserteagle1010 Actually, that switch and light is for the ASR (Anti-Spin Regulation), which is used to prevent you from losing control when accelerating on a slippery road. It is a completely different system than the ABS, you can not turn off the ABS.

  • sorry where can I download this map please?

  • where i can download this map

  • This is an interesting and informative video. I'm glad that a steep inclined roadway was used in the test, because on level road the SD-200 is about 5 KMH than the SD-202.

  • rollercoaster road :)

  • ABS never was meant to keep the breaking distance shorter. as us see - normally it make it longer. ABS - ANTI BLOCK SYSTEM - just keeps the wheels rotating instead of blocking, to keep the steering... very usefull, if you would try braking hard in corners or something else... so - this test itselfs is a fail. sorry. ;)

  • @thomosik you can turn off the abs in the man D92, there's a switch on the panel. The yellow ABS light (bellow the red one) will come up. Could you do a video just with that bus? Would be interesting to compare using the same bus. ;)
