$1.6 billion is surprisingly very cheap for an offworld base. In fact, compared to what our military spends these days, $1.6 billion is nothing. I would've expected the Icarus project to cost somewhere in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Which is still kinda small compared to the tens of trillions we spend today.

Am I the only one that's noticed that the chevrons seem to engage in the wrong order? I thought the bottom two chevrons wouldn't engage until all the others - except for the final, top chevron - were engaged. In SG-1, when an 8 chevron sequence was dialed, it would always engage the first six chevrons as with a 8 chevron sequence, then the seventh would be the bottom right chevron, with the last being the top as normal.
