Conspiracy theorists -- and by conspiracy theorists, I don't mean anyone who believes in particular conspiracies (which occur all the time), but rather those who maintain that a single vast conspiracy suffices to explain the better part of human affairs -- claim to be hard-boiled realists, unsentimental skeptics who look past the deceptively bland surfaces of things and gaze unblinkingly at the awful truth. They characterize themselves as "open-minded" and their detractors as dogmatic proponents of groupthink.

But whether they are on the right or the left of the political spectrum, virtually all of them are creatures of faith. Like the Gnostics of old, who believed God of the Bible was a Satanic imposter, conspiracists believe they have been vouchsafed a revelation about the true nature of the world. As they see it, there are no tragedies, no accidents and mistakes, no good intentions gone awry -- history is a battleground, an arena in which angels and demons are forever grappling, while the rest of us are borne unknowingly toward Armageddon.

The idea that myriad greedy, incompetent, dishonest bankers, real estate agents, brokers, financiers, lobbyists and politicians, all of them pursuing their own selfish ends, could have precipitated a global financial meltdown -- that a completely avoidable catastrophe could have been a product of synergy rather than conscious conspiracy -- is not only mind-boggling, it's infuriating. What the late historian Richard Hofstader famously called "the paranoid style in American politics" provides the disoriented, the deracinated and the dispossessed -- the collateral casualties of our fast-changing world -- with a restored sense of mastery.

  • What about the saying there is some truth in your fiction and some fiction in your truth? The vast majority of his statements are blown out of proportion, however the kernel at the centre, more oft than not seems to be on tack. With regards to his comments on facets of the monetary system, the military industrial establishment and the suggestion that America is a plutocracy or corporate republic rather than a democracy he is onto something. Do you discount all of his ideas in their entirety ?

  • @TheFallenWon Not at all, he definitely covers issues importance, but he marginalizes those issues with this over-the-top paranoid style, not to mention his ability to bend the truth in such a way so as to make it untrue. That's really a side issue and not the focus of this particular video though.

  • Good video. Too bad about the beginning though. A conspiracist is one who promotes a conspiracy theory. Conspiracism would be a belief system or world view where the driving force behind the world is conspiracy. Fantastic Jones clips however - classic! I just want to kneel before him and touch his feet (if he'll even allow me such privilege, seeing as I am unworthy)

  • @michaelrose93 I'm well aware of the difference between the terms, however, both apply to Jones.

  • Good vid - couldn't agree with you more !

  • @55ella2007k Thanks Ella.

  • @JokerMouce He has never incited violence, nor even suggested it - he supports 2nd amend. rights, but it's more in ref. to defense of property & even that is just allusion. Given that so few are publicly drawing attention to the massive contradictions & gaping incredulities in the Govt's 911 myth - particularly Bldg. 7 and Pentagon - I think his pseudonews is still worth listening to for ideas & general theses. I loose him when he ties Socialism to the NWO or spouts that Illuminati garbage.

  • Good video and I mean it! This will be cross-posted over at the faithfreedom forums for sure.

  • @musicalidea You're right, he does have a lot of truth mixed in with what he says but it is far more dangerous to listen to a person who mixes lies with truth than to listen to one who you know is all lies. It makes it hard to know what is truth and what is lies. He pulls people in with tibits of the truth and then fills their heads with lies. He incites violence and he is going to end up getting people killed, if it ever comes to very passionate protesting.

  • @JokerMouce He mixes valid insights with wild speculations - but some of those insights are worthwhile: in particular, 1) his elucidation of the holes & contradictions in the official accounts of who exactly "al queda" and who Osama Bin Laden was, 2) the slow but steady rise of the surveillance society, the police state and the plutocracy it ramifies across the industrialized world, 3) the holes and contradictions in the official 911 story, even if his particular conclusions aren't better.

  • Yea he said Sheen wasn't doing any drugs and the media made most of it up lollolo that was today when sheen actually said he was doing crack but not too much lmao

  • Alexs Jones is to "News" what wrestling is to "Sports"

  • We need a good succinct video that reveals Alex Jones' sociopathic nature for those that have bought into his disinformation. Highly enjoyable..

  • @bulldogger But this video does the exact same thing especially at the end. you can't criticize someone from a point of view that is supposed to be objective and then lay it on just as thick as the subject you're blasting.
