Just a short animation from the times i played with 3DStudio4 for DOS in the 1990s.
As always, i never got around to complete any projects, just testing effects and so on.

I think the goal on this one was to check out the glow effect on the two shields lying on the table.
It was a totally different game "back then".. not the massive choice of plugins we see in MAX today.

  • With R4 we did have some very interesting plugins from Yost Group. Also Bones Pro, SandBlaster (SB for 3DS4 ? think so) etc. In fact have many of them in floppies ! Great.Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

  • Also remember a plugin called 'vapour' for some amazing smoke effects. In fact it could rival many of todays 'smoke' plugins for Max.

    The thrill, for developers and end users, was to squeeze out every drop of resource from the machine. Absolutely challenging. Not the bloat we see today.

    Anyways, thanks for stirring up old memories.
