A video comparison between a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA 750gb HDD and a Crucial M225 64GB SATA SSD. This is a straight swap between my current operating HDD and a new install on the Crucial. The hardware is a Dell Studio XPS Core i7 920, but I've never been that impressed with the performance of the PC as it came.
On the HDD the PC is my current operating PC, so it's loaded up with Office, Photoshop Suite, Mesh, McAfee etc. The SSD was a fresh instal with AV.
The OS is Windows 7 64bit RC (Build 7100)
My old 5400rpm takes 4 mins to get to the browser. I loaded my computer with crap. Lol.
3½ mins with that rig? Must be some virus or something in your computer. Even a regular HDD shouldn't be so slow.
The X-25M is quite good, the write speeds are just kinda slow. But it offers 16 extra gigabytes for almost the same money.

Holy mother of fuck, what have you done to your poor computer? It shouldn't take 3 and a half minutes too boot up and display a webbrowser page even for a mechanical HDD.
The SSD is obviously a great upgrade, but on my desktop (not SSD) it takes 53 seconds to boot up and display a webbrowser page.
Anyway, M225 is a great pick. The Intel X-25M is better but very hard to get a hold of.
As of writing this comment, the prices for the M225 and X25-M are almost exactly the same here in Scandinavia.
