http://www.ted.com With help from some surprising footage, Derek Sivers explains how movements really get started. (Hint: it takes two.)
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate. HATE that TED talks can be sponsored by an Oil promo... nearly a third of this video has nothing to do with TED.

agreed. "we need to find the oil that we can to supply the EARTH's needs" !?!?!?
maybe humanity's needs, but what the EARTH needs is a humanity that conserves and protects its long term future.
what a disappointing sales pitch.

Shut your hole Gareth. I HATE that TED talks have opinionated idiots like you watching them. You have nothing to do with intelligence or good idea's. Not everyone is drinking the cool aid. Personally I like capitalism, if you don't, move to China.

It's difficult to be a leader, but it's easy to be a follower.
you can be a follower, but you must know what you are doing.
I'm the best follower because I'm third one to leave message.
It is not easy to be the first follower. To be a follower should have enough courage.

Great video. About the commercial: People that think filling the worlds need for energy with renewable energy is far ahead are wrong. Sunrays provide earth with thousands of times our energy need, and the cost of harvesting solar energy is dropping exponentially. It will likely become cheaper than electricity from fossil fuels well within a decade, and intersting storage-technology is also being developed. I don't dissapprove of finding oil, but smart heads can do much more interesting things.
