Chaska Dance Team Jazz 2012

Chaska's Jazz performance at the Best of the Best Dance Show hosted by the University of Minnesota 1/6/2012, dancing to In This Shirt by the Irrepressibles.
Chaska went on to claim their first state title in the AA Jazz Funk category and in High Kick as well. This was their first year competing in AA, recently moved down for AAA.

I believe this team is wonderful! They always make me feel something. Their use of the floor and transitions is amazing, so fluid.  My favorite thing about this team is that they seem to be setting trends in jazz throughout all classes. Keep up the great work. I know many teams are inspired by you, which was very evident during at state. Congrats on your first state title in jazz. Well deserved!

Yes, Wayzata is repetitive with what they do, but Wayzata is also AMAZING at what they do. Chaska is not amazing at this for two reasons. One, they do not have the talent. Yes, these girls are wonderful dancers, but their leaps and some turns are not executed well. The second reason is because dance team criteria does not allow for a dance like this to performed well enough. To me, this is too sharp for a contemporary. I always look forward to seeing Chaska's jazz, but they never truly amaze me.

@Facekick1021 This is very interesting that you say this. I am a huge fan of Chaska because over the last 5 years I feel like they have brought something different to dance team, that is now being utilized most teams. It is ironic that you say this needs to be freshened up, when teams like Wayzata have been doing a similar dance for far longer than a couple years. I love that they do not think of dance team different from any other place they would dance (like studio).

@sectioncoach I feel the same way. I would like to see them do something different next year. They are not horrible at contemporary, but would prefer to watch a studio group do a routine like this. Plus, they have been doing this since 2010 so I think its time to freshen things up. Good luck at state ladies. Can't wait to watch this and your amazing kick routine.
