"Hollow Years" is the fourth song and the first single from the Dream Theater album Falling into Infinity. The lyrics were written entirely by John Petrucci. An accompanying music video was also released which cost around $100,000. The version on Live At Budokan features an intro solo as well as a new middle solo, considered by many to be among Petrucci's best.

Love this song so much, Petrucci is seriously on another planet in the solos here. Love the way his solo builds up and at 6.20 it's all over for me, some of the most emotional, soulful playing I have ever heard.
