HOLY MASTER PIECE, FROM A REALLY GREAT BAND THAT I RESPECT

Dream Theater - Hollow Years Live at Budokan

Copyright: 1997 EastWest

"Hollow Years" is the fourth song and the first single from the Dream Theater album Falling into Infinity. The lyrics were written entirely by John Petrucci. An accompanying music video was also released which cost around $100,000. The version on Live At Budokan features an intro solo as well as a new middle solo, considered by many to be among Petrucci's best.

Lyrics:

He's just the kind of man
You hear about
Who leaves his family for
An easy out
They never saw the signs
He never said a word
He couldn't take another day

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

She's not the kind of girl
You hear about
She'll never want another
She'll never be without
She'll give you all the signs
She'll tell you everything
Then turn around and walk away

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
(Into the waves)
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
(Once the stone)
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
(Into the waves)
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over your head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
(The sound you'll hear,)
Once the stone
(the crashing)
You're crawling under
(down of hollow years)
Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
Once the stone
You're crawling under
(The sound you'll hear, the crashing down of hollow years)

  • 45 people don't know how to listen a song.

  • @canerfilinte People that are 12 year old and likes Lil' Wayne probaly dislikes it because of it genre.

  • James Labrie sounds amazing in this song, I saw DT in UK last year, and his voice is better than ever..DT is still the best band after all these years.

  • @Austinstarr79 i hear that, smooth yet powerful and full of flavor

  • Love this song so much, Petrucci is seriously on another planet in the solos here. Love the way his solo builds up and at 6.20 it's all over for me, some of the most emotional, soulful playing I have ever heard.

  • @lmoloney3 his guitar is equipped with piezo pickups (acoustic simulator pickups)

  • Does anyone know what effects he's using to get that classical/flamenco sound?

  • fuck you (45) dislikes .I.

  • How?...h... I mea.......45 dislikes?

Do you even have a point guys? seriously?

  • Petrucci can put more emotion into one note than most can put into an entire solo
