The battle at King's Mountain was one of the last battles of the American Revolution. It was fought on October 7, 1780 between the patriots, the Overmountain Men, and the British forces led by Patrick Ferguson. The Americans came from east Tennessee and western North Carolina as well as Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina.

  • Thank you sir for making this video. My ancestor (6th great-grandfather) was Teter "Detrich" Nave, who served in Issac Shelby's company at King's Mountain. One day I hope to visit the battle site myself.

  • I have many relatives who fought there, too. My book about the Overmountain Men lists Teter Nave along with 5 other Naves: Conrad, Henry, John, Teeler, and Teeter, probably you uncles.

    thanks for watching.

  • Hi, good presentation of the King's Mountain Battlefield. My distant grandfather fought there along with four of his brother-in-laws (lost one) and a close family friend whose father raised my distant grandfather. All with the Over Mountain Men under Campbell. Another distant uncle from another branch of the family was handling pack animals for the expedition.

  • @BoldReiver Interesting! Isaac Shelby was my 7th great grandfather.

  • Thank you so very much for this video. It helps me to get a feel for where my ancestors fought in this battle. (Rolland Judd and his son)

  • We are all so interrelated over the generations it is likely that most of us have ancestors that fought on King's Mountain - on both sides!

Just like it is rare I meet a New Englander who claims their ancestors were NOT on the Mayflower :-)

Be that as it may, these men who fought for freedom are exactly the kind of men we today when our basic freedoms are being attacked every day by the powers that be.

  • I always have a problem with the term Patriot in the War of Independence, not to detract from them as men.

  • My direct ancestors fought there: Col. John Sevier, Col. Ben Cleveland, Maj. William H. Clark.....

  • My great great great great great great great great grandfather fought in the battle.

    His name was Col.Fredrick Hambright.

  • thank you for posting america needs more inforvative videos
