Saint Paul Police Chief John Harrington honored 27 Saint Paul Officers with the department's Life Saving Award, on August 3, 2009. The award recognizes officers who saved a life, while potentially risking their own. Chief Harrington described each heroic act, including the actions of an officer who won two awards, one for lifting a 300-pound car engine off of a victims head.
