Bob, as he was referred to around the studio (real name: al-Marah) had to have his roar dubbed in; he was difficult to direct, and merely snarled at his handler. He was replaced within a year by Jackie III, whose image is still used today (25 years after his death).

I feel sad that bastard Ted Turner got all of MGM's movies from before 1986. That was the time MGM made classic stuff.
