Alcazar de Toledo files: war and reconstruction

I found this papers and photos in an old spanish bookstore. The Alcazar (castle) de Toledo siege from 28 july to 26 sept 1936 during the first moments of spanish civil war was a kind of montecassino battle, used succesfully by nationalist side war propaganda
The castle first constructions are from the roman period

The Siege of the Alcazar by Cecil Eby is an excellent account of this siege. It is also the only secular book that I have read on the Spanish Civil War which does not consistently attack Franco and the Nationalist cause.

Lo usasen como propaganda o no, a mi la obra me parece impresionante... igual que el episodio histórico.

En cualquier caso, lo que cuenta es el presente y ahora en reconstruido Alcazar tenemos una gran biblioteca. Historia y cultura en el mismo sitio.

Agreed Cecil Eby,s book pays tribute to triumphs and short comings on both sides, Civil war is as brutal as any other war and both sides where guilty of atrocities .
