@MTZirg He wasn't in the NHL. He was playing for Edmonton who, at the time, was in the WHA.

Your memories serve you correctly. Actually, Jack had been called up by the Oilers (who were in the WHA at that point) for the playoffs. He was playing for them when Slap Shot began filming. That's why Dave Hanson stepped in to be Jack in the movie, and Jerry Houser (an actor) became Dave "Killer" Carlson.

I remember Jack during his North Star years, I think he had a contract problem with Edmonton that kept him from being in slapshot.

2 out of 3 Hanson Brothers on the same team. Except Jack couldn't make the filming of slapshot. Bummer! Would've been awesome.
