this is before we leveled the patio of built it up, also some thunder, in the background, lol. we have a large old Maple, which are very precious in Vermont for its sap, for good reason, we wanted to not disturb its roots so there was very little digging before we started putting down the stone for the base. you can see the three different piles of stone in the driveway. all the stone and slate was brought by large dump trucks. each of which had to go over a tiny wooden, bridge. the good thing though is that the bridge has steel gurders laid out under the wood so it can take it very well. the first shipment of stone was close to if not more than 17 tons, shipment #2 was 10 tons. and the small stone in the big last pile was about the same.
