Dr. Vladimir Chernousenko, the physicist in charge of the clean-up at the Chernobyl accident site - later expelled from Russia for revealing the true dimensions of the disaster - speaks out against nuclear power in this dramatic 45-minute interview with Karl Grossman. Chernousenko, author of Chernobyl: Insight from the Inside, says that the accident released 70% of the nuclear reactor's core rather than the three percent figure announced to the world. He estimates that more than 15,000 people died in the former Soviet Union after the explosion and that up to a million more will perish there in the next five years from Chernobyl-caused maladies. He voices concern for people in other parts of the world who have also been affected by this first "truly international disaster." Dr. Chernousenko was for decades a key figure in Soviet nuclear research and engineering. (Transcript available.)

  • There are much cleaner and safer ways of getting energy, that are available now. Nuclear power has been made out to be this illusion of /safe/. I don't know about all of you, but I will not live anywhere near a reactor. Vladamir Chernousenko was speaking of truth, because he understands the science, but was intelligent to see that it is dangerous and volatile. Our government won't switch over to anything that is clean and works, because it isn't in their interests. Neither is keeping jobs here.

  • @tuffyjock1 they shut down the reactor so there should be any explosion but the reactor didnt shut down, it contined working - pleace check the discovery chanel episodes from 1 to 6 and u will get the full story whith u,

  • @metalpresstv excuse me? nuclear is good u said? u are not living in this world are u? try and move to chernobil today and live for 1week I'll make u sure your arms legs will start to fall apart .. nuclear is a silent killer, u cant see it , u cant feel it but it eats u inside every single day until it kills u down, RIP to thouse who gaved their life by cleaning the mess so the rest of the world could leave better :((

  • @MrGingerwarrior2u Yes, that's what happens to honest people - what an amazing world we are living in today :( Vladimir thanks for being a real mann !

  • Vladimir Chernousenko was sacked from the Ukraine (Kiev) University for telling the truth and later died from Cancer..

  • @metalpresstv I don't even live in america, and i know not to trust fox, ive seen on here and on tv shows about what theyre like.

  • @metalpresstv

Don't trust ANYTHING you hear on the lamestream media.

  • I just have to say, watching fox say Chernobyl only killed 31 people does not make me feel better. It actually was attributed to over 1,000,000 deaths and fox has finical interests in the Japanese company. So fox is saying, look it only kills maybe 40 people when we have an accident, so nuke power is good. Don't want safe coal; radiation is good for you, and won't hurt the earth...BS . Please do not trust anything you hear on fox people.

  • The girl looks like "i dont have to take this shit"
