  • What does the internal wicking do? Why is boil time so important?

  • The internal wicking controls the rate of alcohol evaporation, making for a faster start and more even burn. Boil time isn't all that important, but this was a response to a subscriber's request for a boil test. Peace.

  • 6min 45sec that is what I have been getting with my homemade ones about give or take. The original on the other hand is around the 5.5 mark Good demo.

  • It may be a touch better with the wicking, and for this design, I will probably use it i the future. With only a 1/2 oz. capacity, this stove is more a one-fill-one-burn type stove, no reclaiming fuel. I do that for the bigger version that I made for the 2 burner. Thanks for the comment! Peace.

  • Thank you for showing us.

    Good job!

  • No problem, Bill. One of my subscribers, backfeets5, asked for it and I was remiss for a period of time. Sorry for my procrastination! Peace,

  • Interesting and informative, thanks for posting this.

I'm currently working on my own version of the featherfire and the best boil time I can get so far on my coke can ring burner stove is around 10 min to rolling boil and maintaining the boil for about a further 10 min on 1oz of Methylated spirit, (denatured alcohol), it's good enough for me but of course theres no controllability of the flame for a simmer.

  • 15 grams flat still with new pot stand. The old one was made from aluminum, but used more material, hence the same weight. The wicking weighs between 3-5 grams, depending on how much I can fit into the fuel chamber. Thank you for your kind words and comments! Peace.

  • You are welcome, Ed. I can't wait to see you use it out in the cooler weather than I can subject it to. Thanks for all the fishing videos! Peace.

  • Great video as always Josh!! I Love this stove!! Thanks fpr the Boil test, ED 5/5
