This is my second update 12 days after Update #1. My homemade Hydroponics system is working extremely well. I am very happy with the results. So far its a great success. The pepper plants are showing slight damage, either from cold or more likely over watering. Starting seeds in the Jiffy Pots was a total failure. I believe the salad container was sealed too tightly. This could have easily been avoided by simply leaving the clear lid loose instead of snapping it down.

So what have I learned?
1. Hydroponics is easier than I thought it would be.
2. I have to pay closer attention to not to over water.
3. Too tight of a seal is deadly to seeds in Jiffy Pots.

I realize most of my videos have little to do with Square Foot Gardening so far.
As soon as we get better weather I will start making videos on that subject.
Thanks for watching. More videos coming soon.

  • Do I have to leave the air pump, on all day and night??

  • @marito001 No. it's on a timer and turns on once very 3 hours

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn If I leave mine from 10 pm to 7 am off. Do you think that will affect the plant?

  • @marito001 There are too many variables I don't know about your system such as temperature, humidity, type and amount of media, and etc. The only way to know for sure is to try it. I have read that you shouldn't run the pump while the plant is in the dark. I've done it both ways and never noticed a difference. As long as the plants don't wilt you are good to go.

  • @marito001 yes

  • Is a 3 gallon container big enough to grow some peppers, will they grow big? nice video.

  • @marito001 Yes. That is the size bucket used in the Ebb and Grow system and I have seen that system grow peppers successfully.
