TABLE FOR TWO

MUSIC & VOCALS:
By Klaus Bluetner

LYRICS:
By Tom Jensen

The coffee's on...
I used to have
coffee with you

But you're gone...
And now I'll have
to find someone new

No, I don't like to
Drink my coffee alone

So I'd call and hope
That you'd pick up the phone

And we'd talk
Until the kids came home

And we'd talk
Until my coffee it turned cold

And we'd talk
Some more

When the kids ran off to play

And we'd talk...
That's how we'd spend
The rest of our day

Then you'd cook
With the phone
held up to your ear
As you set the table
for only two

You knew that I was there...

Even though I was here

(even though I was here)

You knew that I was there

(you knew that I was there)

Even though I was here

(even though I was here)

You knew that I was there

The coffee's on...
I used to have
coffee with you

But you're gone...
And now I'll have
to find someone new

  • One of the best lyrics I've heard from you this year!! I really like this song!!!

  • @cbfall This is my new favorite song....haha.... Klaus has a very trustworthy and sincere voice...and it is perfect for this song...I really enjoy extracting deep emotions and feelings with simple, second grade words. This one reminds me of IN THE POURING RAIN - my song with Justin Justice - in that sense... this is not one that needs a lot of "bells and whistles" to go along with it and should make for a good live performance. :)

  • I'm getting rather annoyed with your songs.

Well... No no no... Rather the opposite.

I envy you because you are able to write so much and are able to put the words to the music somehow.

I cannot say I equally like them, but I have heard some very, very nice songs from you since I subscribed here.

    Keep them coming!

  • @MultiBert07 Thanks my friend, I don't always write "songs" persay...not in the typical and traditional way...often I write lyrics that need to be rearranged and edited to make for better songs...but I usually write things that are worth reading and have some value in them...at that point, it's up to the skills and ability (and dedication) of the musician to make the transition complete... Luckily, I've found some very talented people along the way to help me. :) thanks!

  • @tubesbestmusic That's a great idea!! You should ask Klaus if he plans to perform this lyric live some time!! :-)

  • Another awesome song my friend:) Thumbs Up

  • This is disruptive in my perception. Very dark and it's one of the sad words I've read. This goes to my favorites, it has great aura, but sad...

  • @tubesbestmusic If you would choose to look up Shirley Temple, be sure to find "We should be together".

She was "older than" (11-12 years) but here you can see how professional she was at that age.

Also: watch her dance. Not really that easy dancing with a guy twice your size.

Shirley does it like a natural. With glance.

A star, that's what she is.

  • @tubesbestmusic Yes you did find talented people. You have a nice "sound". Warm.

    Sometimes I wonder though.

Sometimes the rhythm of the words do not fit in the rhythm of the music.

I really do not know how you do it, but you make it "stick" anyway.

But those are really not my favourite songs.

By the way, if you could manage some free time between writing songs, go and look on YouTube for Shirley Temple.

    Cute, but very.

  • @tubesbestmusic Yeah, I do that one on stage alone with acoustic guitar! The chords are easy to remember, luckily ...
