This is my Final Project for my "Digital Sight, Sound and Motion" class. For the Final Project, we just had to take what we learned from our previous video projects and create a 3-4 minute short film.

"The Unwelcome Visitor" is a short film about a Protagonist (performed by Andrew Willke), who is visiting his brother in college. Little does he know that the Antagonist (performed by Brandon Gilbert) is following him. When the Antagonist snatches the Protagonist's iPod out of his hands, it results in a fast-paced chase (of sorts) across the campus. It all ends in a climatic fight between the welcome and the unwelcome visitor.

Filming took place over three days (November 25 & 26-Main Production; December 2-Reshoot of one scene) on University of Cincinnati's Main Campus. I had to make a lot of changes to my original storyline, but it was worth it. I originally had two college-age students in the main roles, but it was impossible to find anyone since we were filming over Thanksgiving Break. So, I had to settle with an 8th grader and a high-school freshman. They did pretty well, even though I wish they were better actors.

It took about one-and-a-half weeks to edit this film. The most grueling task of the editing process was to edit the audio together, as well as find proper music to set the mood in various scenes. I also had to cut out several minutes of footage (including an entire intro) just to bring this film down to the required length of 3-4 minutes. If I have the time, I'll see if I can upload some deleted scenes.

We premiered our Final Projects at MainStreet Cinema, a single-cinema auditorium, with the combined "Digital Sight, Sound and Motion" classes in attendance. After watching my short film on the big screen, I was really impressed with how it came out. The video and audio seem to fit perfectly in a cinematic setting.
