Sir Michael Caine, CBE was born in Rotherhithe Southwark South East London the son of Ellen Frances Marie née Burchell and father Maurice Joseph Micklewhite on March 14, 1933 named Maurice Joseph Micklewhite grew up in Camberwell. He left school at 15 and took a series of working-class jobs before joining the British army and serving in Korea during the Korean War, where he saw combat.
