NEW:Guido Westerwelle snubs BBC reporter for English question at press conference

In his first press conference after German Election day (sunday sept 27th 2009) Dr. Guido Westerwelle (FDP) refuses to take or answer a BBC correspodent's question in English. Westerwelle aims for becoming foreign secretary in the new German Government.

The intension of this video is not bashing of politicians. I don't expect everyone to speak English perfectly (I don't either).. But I expect a (designated) foreign secretary to be polite and cosmopolitan in front of international press.

1. The Marshal plan was about 12,4 billion dollars and Germany refunded every cent until 1972.

2. The guest workers contributed a comparatively small part to rebuilt the country as the numbers clearly prove, but we're thankful anyway.

3. The fairy tale about the victors rebuilt Germany is complete nonsense.

4. Apart from that Germany was forced to pay reparations for WW1, even though Germany did NOT start WW1, and we still pay reparations for WW2.

5. We owe you exactly NOTHING.

Well to be honest, he is lucky that he still has permission to speak German. If it wasn't for the British and Americans he would be speaking Russian now. The only reason Germany still exists is because it was rebuilt using funds from the Marshall Plan and because people from Turkey and other countries went to Germany to help rebuild it.

@bruchland Mann könnte auch erwarten, das Er vorher irgendwie ein bisschen etwas mit fremden Kuturen in Kontakt getreten zu sein,außer eine 3 Wochen Reise nach Spanien.Das wäre so, wie Günther Gabriel zum Finanzminister zu ernennen.Wo bei der wenigstens Carisma und Englischkenntnisse mitbringen könnte.Allerdigs könnte ich mir Vorstellen , das Guido mit einem anderen Ministerposten besser gefahren wäre.Ich glaub, die haben ihn verarscht.

Wie peinlich ist das denn, von einem Außenminister kann wohl erwartet werden, dass er fließend Englisch spricht
