Cass & Frankie--This Time, We're Gonna Do It All Right

As they sit in front of their fireplace drinking tea, Frankie tells Cass that she was meditating so much that she was in tune with him on this really universal spirit level. Cass says he felt that, and Frankie says she knew that, and she also knew when his spirit was troubled, and one night she had this dream about him and a redheaded lawyer. "Come on!" Cass says. "Dean told you. He met her, you know."

"Well, I haven't seen Dean," Frankie replies.

"Wow," Cass says. "I mean, wow."

Frankie sets her mug of tea of aside as Cass puts his arm around her and pulls her against his side. She rests her head on his shoulder and he rests his cheek against hers and he tells her he can't wait for them to be married again for the first time. "Not too fast," Frankie says with her eyes closed. Cass promises her no, not too fast.

"But just think," Cass says. "We're gonna get to experience our courtship all over again, our engagement and our wedding ceremony and our honeymoon...without the kidnapping, of course."

"Oh, please God," Frankie says, eyes still closed.

"No, no. This time, we're gonna do it all right," Cass vows. "When I order a string quartet, we get a string quartet. No Elvis. And no limo breaking down. And no breakdown in communication. That's right. We'll talk. We'll talk about everything. No secrets between us. No nursing any grievances. We'll make love. And we'll make love..." He trails off as he turns his head to kiss Frankie, and that's when he discovers that she has fallen asleep. He carefully lays Frankie's head in his lap, then reaches behind him to pull a blanket off the couch, and he covers her with the blanket and puts his arms around her. "I love you, Mary Frances," he says softly, bending to kiss her cheek. "I love you so much." Then he kisses her cheek again and rests his head against hers and gives her another kiss.
