2007 Mini Cooper S First Drive by Edmunds' Inside Line

Partnering with PSA (a.k.a. Peugeot and Citroën) BMW invested a lot in two new engines for the Mini Cooper, in order to rid itself of the Chrysler-derived, South-American-built mills found in the old car. The new power plants are built at BMW's own Hams Hall engine plant, a short lorry ride away from the Mini assembly plant in Oxford. This alone accounts for a big chunk of the increase in U.K.-sourced parts content from 40 to 60 percent.

@Transane It is. I drove a Cooper S when mine was in for service and it was lightyears quicker than my Cooper was.

That's too bad. I know plenty of people with this car and they have had no issues yet. You probably have a lemon.

It's imperative that people research cars thoroughly before purchase. Minis are very specific cars, and they will throw a fit! It and cars LIKE it, are typically not good with winter or pimply roads due to their short wheelbases, low profile tires and tight tuning. Even then! My aunt owns a Cooper S in Minneapolis, and no problems yet. It all depends on your personal experience.

haha, you think you would like one,,, i have one, its a great little car, but its very expensive to fix, and breaks down all the time, mines an 08 has 45000 km. i hate it. dont get one.

Why is it that some of us have western university degree with honours, work hard but can't afford anything because we live in poor coutries (if we try to live and work in rich countries they treat us like criminals...)
