Welcome to the first installment of the Android Guy Weekly, a new web show that aims to answer your questions about Android smartphones and tablets, pose thought-provoking questions, and gaze into the vast unknown of the "near future".
In this week's episode we look into tablets, their sizes, their utility, and how we've seem to have gotten things wrong by putting our wireless data into our smartphones, instead of the other way around.
Unlike other web-series, The Android Guy Weekly is a conversation, not just a talking head! You're part of the discussion! Leave your thoughts, hopes, and opinion in the comments so all the other viewers can have a richer experience!

I always liked the idea of producing a "shell" of a multi purpose tablet e.g. Transformer Prime that did not contain the expensive bits. You would then use a powerful phone such as Tegra 3 quad core unit to slide seamlessly into the body of the tablet. You would then use all of the hardware of the phone to run the Transformer Prime. The cost of this type of setup would be signifigantly less then buying a smartphone and tablet seperately but the funcionality would be dramtically increased.

I want a single device that fits in my pocket and does everything i need. I need to talk on the phone, internet service, and internet on my laptop away from home.
A tablet to me is just a large smartphone without the phone, which i find useless except for video purposes for children during a car ride, or internet on the couch while watching tv. If the tablet has my data plan, and i leave my tablet behind because it doesnt fit in my pocket, my phone now doesnt have internet.

@nile00000 very small draw string backpack like ones you would put a pair of shoes in or old gym clothes. There are thick strapped ones for comfort and since you would probably only have your tablet, cables, and possible food or water in it they are comfortable and portable. I never leave home with out mine. It's perfect.

@SqeakyGoldfish ouch yeah didn't realize that... I don't know what to recommend is Vontage an available services in the UK? It is a VOIP service here in the US that works similar but not as well as Google Voice.

@baldwin471 Netflix or any streaming video service kills your data plan. If you were to watch a movie or a couple of TV shows on Netflix you can at least quadruple your current data usage. Depending on the streaming quality it could be much more. With HD displays on smartphones 4G LTE and battery life like the Droid RAZR Maxx you can kiss your data plan good by in a car ride.

i dont think tablets could ever be a device that you could keep on you at all times. its just to big to carry everywhere in daily life, even if it is a smaller one. were are you going to keep it?

The galaxy note was made to bridge smartphones and tablets with a size in between
ASUS padfone will also bridge the data between both devices and can be used as a laptop with a dock like transformer

Wouldn't you just be carrying two devices again? Just a dumbphone and a smarter tablet, instead of a smartphone and a regular tablet?

Green screen and visual content now! Is really a good idea but it gets boring just looking at you almost 20 min
