This is a ten-part series filmed at the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida in January of 2008. The first three parts are of Brian Clement, Hippocrates director, sharing his thoughts on natural living while we waited for Gabriel to arrive. Parts four to ten are of Gabriel Cousens, MD of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Patagonia, Arizona talking about how diabetes is a disease of lifestyle, not a product of genetics. Dr. Cousens' clinical research conclusively demonstrates that diabetes can be reversed and healed by assuming a raw and living vegetarian lifestyle. • He said cancer cells like 10 to 15 times more sugar than normal cells, which is why Tree of Life uses a 3-stage healing diet in which fruit is eliminated for a few months in the first stage. You can see details on this in the first two chapters of his book Ranbow Green, Live Food Cuisine.

  • their is no need to make it from fat if your just getting from healthy food. High blood is very bad but fruit will give you high blood sugar or make u fat.

  • StrawberryBigMac

The body will make the sugar it requires from body fat. It will make what it requires, not more, not less. However when you eat sugar and carbs then this is all converted to sugar in the blood which must then be converted to fat.

So no, I disagree with you. Fat does not give you high blood sugar, it's the other way round. High blood sugar makes you fat.

The conversion of bodyfat to sugar is under full control.

  • wrong, the body doesn't need sugar but it needs carbs, just not junk fast food carbs.

  • @ RavenPrecept.....you may well have been heading for diabetes, but another possibility is that you are intolerant to the gluten in wheat; I used to feel as if I hadn't slept for three weeks and fade out for a few hours in bed after pasta or bread. You could try re-introducing a little non-gluten carbs (like rice, potatoes, millet etc) and see how it goes.

  • my body fat % is fine. I dont eat bread or pasta i eat natural sugar from organic fruit. Our bodies digest it easily and use it to fuel us. I also eat small amounts of fat and greens.

  • If you are skinny as in your picture then you would need to conserve body fat. Most people have plenty of body fat. I have cut back bread and potatos and rice and pasta and gone more for meat and veg and eggs and fish. I have more energy and only need a fried breakfast and supper, no lunch. I am not diabetic but I suspect I was getting that way as I became very tired after eating bread or pasta.

  • you should be getting energy from ur diet not your fat stores. If you get enough cals from fruit, you will have enough body fat and enough energy

  • Your body stores fat for energy. It stores about 2000 in sugar form but after that any sugar/carbs trigger insulin which signals suger conversion to fat. Whilst insulin is active you don't burn body fat. You need say one slice of bread and the rest of your food should be meat veg and fatty food. You won't start digesting your muscles whilst you have fat on your body.

  • so then in essence you body will just make sugar from anything you eat and the cancer will feed from it. If you stop taking in carbs you go into ketosis. Either way your body is going to make sugar. High fat raises insulin levels just as much as sugar. Thats why diabetics have problems with high fat. and its hard on your pancreas and liver.

  • you don't need to supply the body with sugar or carbs. It can make it's own from fat. It's the sugar and carbs that spike the insulin.
