Freedom Party condemns SCOTTSBORO BOYS for trivializing the Black Holocaust. Lyceum Theater in Times Square theater district on November 6, 2010. Slick modern minstrel show offends deepest sensibilities. Song and dance artfully converts Jim Crow terror into entertainment and delivers '1000 LAUGHS'. ' Black history is not for sale', Omowale Clay. 'We can never allow the tragedy of our existence to be trivialized', Viola Plummer.
@kingofbingo Acting too quickly as usual. Charles Barron can't even keep his Brooklyn office clean, yet he's always "out of his district" in the media. I live in his district and walk pass 4ft of trash every week. I call 311, the Comm Bd and to no avail. I can't afford to succeed him, but I'm surely going to shake up his office in 2012!

You gotta be kidding me. Theses protesters have not one clue about what this show is about. By trying to close it, they setting the cause of freedom backwards instead of forwards----- talk about idiots.

This was truly one of the saddest moments. To watch our own people who are so very misguided on the way we were telling this story. I personally invited them to see the show and then engage in an intelligent discussion. They declined. They said they didn't need to see it. So how could we possibly have a conversation. A shame.

Im sad to see this.....number one the show is not a fucking comedy, secondly is it me or will blacks pay money to go see Tyler perry and his coons perform but an actual show that respectively tells our stoey is protested against!!! BLACK PEOPLE WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!!

I'm not a defender of Charles Barron in particular but he does more than just protest Broadway shows. If you listen to him often enough he speaks clearly on the need to black economic empowerment; the sole reason behind poverty and violence in our community. And while I respect everyone's opinion with the need to be negative. We can content with big issues like violence, economic disparity and more while not allowing Broadway to profit over tragedy; both can be done at the same time...

Unbelievable. Did any of these morons even see this moving show? Such a shame these ignorant people feel the need to protest a great show like this.

Unbelievably misguided protest by people who have obviously not seen the show.
And now a group of black actors is unemployed. Nice job!

This protest is simply a chance for Charles Barron and his so-called Freedom Party to get a TV and now YouTube soundbite. Be really black and turn your attention to what's happening in the black community. One protest march every six months against black on black violence is not going to get it. Creating some pie in the sky Freedom Party won't get it either.

The saddest and pathetic aspect of this protest is the sheer wasted energy of everyone of these protestors. In Brooklyn last week a 12 year old black boy was shot and killed by another young black young person. There were no protest marches by the same black community members in front of this theater about that incident. Charles Barron and Co. would rather spend their time on Broadway rather than addressing the tragedy that their own black neighborhoods are facing with black on black crime.

I have seen this show and I'm sorry to tell you: you are MISTAKEN.
This show does the exact OPPOSITE of what you are claiming. It takes a horrid time in our history and shows of us the horrid racism and reviles it.
Yes, it is uncomfortable and uses unconventional ways to bring home its point: but this show is ANTI RACISM in every way.
PLEASE go and see this BEAUTIFULLY MOVING and EDUCATIONAL show. It will open your eyes and your heart.
