I find so many closed minded parents try to tell me that I must have taught my daughter to be a vegetarian, that there is NO way she could have thought of this on her own. Or better yet lets be totalitarians instead of parents and just force them to follow our will instead of having minds of their own.

I'm hoping for a better future so I hope there are more parents out there encouraging their children to make some choices for themselves and not just bend to the will or passions of their parents. Sure its nice to pass on traditions but if your kid gets physically ill at the idea of eating that traditional roasted turkey then lets pick our battles and let them NOT eat meat.

  • I went vegetarian young too. So many people are nasty about it when you're young. Both to the parents and the vegetarian themselves. You get the strangest reactions. Doctors use you as a pin cushion as soon as you say you're a vegetarian they say "blood test time". Then other kids are spiteful too. I hope children like her are the future and not the ones I knew.

  • Fantastic, just fantastic.

    Restores my faith in humanity.

    :)

  • Aw she reminds me of me, I chose to stop eating meat when I was 3 or 4 after my older brother told me the farm animals I visited at the strawberry farm are what I eat. And watching the chicken run was a huge turn off. Thanks for letting your child have her own freedom of choice (: she is amazing (:

  • Your daughter is wonderful, amazing, spectacular.Thankyou for supporting her ethical choice

  • I chose to be a vegetarian when I was 8. I asked my parents what it was called to not eat meat and they told me 'vegetarian' and they let me be it thinking it was a phase. I haven't eaten meat since and I'm now 23.I've even recently went vegan. I played soccer all year round for 14 years, so when people say it's not healthy it's very wrong. No one else I knew (until I got to high school) was a vegetarian. So congrats on letting your kid make their own decisions and supporting them living healthy.
