A journey into Beijing's newly budding indie rock underground, Berlin filmmakers Susanne Messmer and George Lindt follow five bands, ranging from punk to riot-grrls to blues to Mongolian crossover rock, in their daily struggle to make themselves heard in China's conservative music scene. These young musicians choose to live on the fringes of Beijing's currently exploding materialist economy, where non-conformism still carries a stigma that makes it hard to fully explore one's identity
