Peter Ustinov narrates this World Premiere.

Hippocrates, who was the father of medicine, first closely linked religion to the new medical science in ancient Greece and his famous Hippocratic Oath is still sworn to by all medical graduates. From the running tracks of the ancient Olympic Games in Olympia, HIPPOCRATES IN OLYMPIA investigates a closely related subject: medical care during the ancient Olympic Games to insure the health of the revered athletes who entertained dignitaries, artists and philosophers at the ultimate sports festival.

  • read last line of oath....you hipocrite?

  • Look at the wonderful sculpture of Hippocrates, he had both wisdom and compassion to write such an Oath. View it on you tube. Dr tedeschi bronze Hippocrates

  • You Hippocrites!! LOL. Teasing.

  • Always seems forgotten that Hippocrates' most influential mentor was an atomist called Democritus.

You really see this influence in his emhasis on 'harmonia' and 'symmetria' as crucial parts of happiness. .. where Hippocrates emphasised physical not mental health, of course

  • Medicine is different than surgery, as Hippocrates stated in his very oath. *That medicine is his expertise not other specialties which should rightfully be transferred (like surgery). The fathers of surgery are considered known as Sushruta of ancient India, and Versailius from Greece(whom is also the father of Human Anatomy).

  • Is he the father of medicine? In Abdera, a woman was operated with a bronze probe 2 join a suture at her cranium when a lead missile thrown by another Thracian hit her head; centuries b4 this.

  • Eksairetiko bravo!

  • could you send me this video plesee?

  • thanks alot!☺
