In this seven-minute movie, shot at dawn April 23, 2010, you will see trees toppled into molten lava (@1:40) and burst into flames - Beginning (@3:10) lava breaks out, flows down burning ferns and busrts out & broadens (@ 4:40). Throughout the movie you will hear the crackling of fires, small methane gas explosions and at least five varieties of birds chirping and one buffo toad croaking...

Where were you standing?! I kept waiting for the cameraman to start moving away or something. Amazing to see a single blade of grass when the lava first touches it... it flares up in flames, topples over into the flow and is utterly consumed.

Good-bye Kipuka! Goodbye trees. I don't think the birds are singing, I think they are worrying....they sound agitated. Amazing sound on this video - i feel like I am in the midst of he crackling , toppling and sizzling... Pele is so powerful.
