  • Hypomania sounds like splendid fun.

  • @stuqua It can lead to spending sprees, gambling sprees, excessive drinking, excessive drug use, Hypersexuality and trouble. It can be Irritable Hypomania which is fist fighting, arguing, hair trigger temper, jail time & ruined relationships. I would call it volatile & destructive.

Euphoric Hypomania looks fun until you get into trouble with shopping sprees, gambling, sex, etc. It is not what you think.

  • A couple MORE symptoms:

    5. great self esteem, feeling like I'm the most gorgeous thing and looking in the mirror often. Vanity.

    6. Finding myself in a completely different room I wanted to get to, terrible distraction.

I'm having a hard time understanding whether or not my mood swings could be hormonal? But there are some weird things in there that make me feel otherwise. I also have found very mild OCD and possible ADD do to my lack of focus.

  • @MusikkIzMiLiffee Mental health terms "Sister Illnesses" or "Traveling Companions" mean mental illnesses that travel together in clusters. If you find one chances are you will find more. I have Bipolar II, OCD, ADHD, Social Anxiety and Generalized Anxiety. If you have Bipolar chances are good you also have OCD and/or ADD/ADHD and possibly an anxiety disorder. OCD & ADD/ADHD tend to travel together. Do not be surprised if you are told you have more than one illness.

  • @stuqua Its great fun at the time, but what goes up :/

hypomania is great, dealing with the aftermath of broken relationships, debt, and people that beat the hell out of you isnt.

  • @Mariezee44 If you feel a diagnosis doesn't fit get a 2nd opinion from a psychiatrist who is better trained at diagnosis than a therapist. Look for a psychiatrist that specializes in "Mood Disorders" so you get someone who is well versed in Bipolar. They will know if you have Bipolar or not. It is important to get an accurate diagnosis as therapy and meds are different for a different diagnosis. If you have the wrong diagnosis you will be given the wrong meds, wrong therapy & not benefit.

  • @Mariezee44 I would not necessarily go by what a therapist says. I have been misdiagnosed by multiple therapists. I would see a psychiatrist for a more accurate assessment. Therapists are pretty weak at diagnosis. Psychiatrists are much better trained at diagnosis. Please book a first appointment with a psychiatrist and ask them, "What is wrong with me?" Don't tell them your diagnosis. Let the Dr. decide. See what the Dr. says. Do they say the same thing as the therapist or not?

  • @Mariezee44 Only Bipolar I has Mania. The other 4 kinds of Bipolar have Hypomania. Perhaps you are confused as to what Hypomania & Mania mean? Hypomania does not go up to full blown Mania. Hypo=under. Hypomania is less than Mania. I think of it as "Mania Lite" as in half the calories but all the trouble. I think of it as "half mania" because it is not as high as Mania. Please see the DBSAlliance . org website for more details. Please see the NIMH . gov website for more info.

  • @MusikkIzMiLiffee Your symptoms: (5) Inflated self worth - It is possible this is euphoric mania or hypomania grandiose thinking, delusional thinking, but I can not say for certain. (6) Distraction - ADD/ADHD is possible. I have ADHD and I do this too. Since I was 3 my mom would send me to my room to get my hairbrush & I'd return with socks. I couldn't remember what I went to my room for. This is common with ADD/ADHD. (7) Focus & concentration issues = OCD and/or ADD/ADHD. Can be both.

  • @MusikkIzMiLiffee Your symptoms: (3) I don't know about this one.

    (4) Pressure to speak is called "Pressure Speech" and is a Bipolar symptom. "Racing Thoughts" often accompany pressure speech. I did a video on racing thoughts. Check it out & see if it applies to you. If you pressure speech, racing thoughts & mood swings...chances are very good you have Bipolar.
