Here's my collection as it stands.

Let me explain: my 'core' collection is those Atari ST games that are personally significant. Either I played them and loved them when I was a nipper, wanted them desperately and couldn't get my grubby mits on them or they are widely regarded as classics. Mediocre games need not apply; I have neither the time nor the money.

What do you think? Which are the glaring absentees? Any in there that you think do not deserve their place?

  • @DRMFREEZONE It's funny how games are indelibly etched in our memories. I can't remember what we were studying for college last week, but I can remember every move, it's input and effective distance from IK+ 15 years ago!

  • @DRMFREEZONE The Grand Prix intro is very good. Sets the mood perfectly!

I use Steem on my Windows partition and Hatari on my Ubuntu partition. Steem is my favourite, but I dislike Windows so it balances out. ;)

  • @electricadventures No luck so far, I've come across the BBC and C64 manuals, but not the ST. :(

  • @xboxmodder02 I do use HDMI and emulation in some circumstances. Usually for the 3D Atari ST games that could do with a bit more grunt (you can speed up the CPU emulation in Steem) like Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix or Frontier. But I'm with you: for the most part, the real thing is much better; the sound of a chugging drive, the smell of dusty capacitors, the click of a Zipstick. You can't beat it.

Is your VGA port alongside the HDMI ports? (That's where the plastic plate is on my TV)

  • @thejoyofsticks Thats weird since you have the exact same TV as me , and mine has VGA on the back of it.I currently use the VGA port for my wii lol. There is a workaround you can do but it evolves emulation and connecting your PC to you TV through HDMI.The only downfall is thats its not the same as using the real hardware though. :-(

  • @xboxmodder02 I appreciate that, but unfortunately my TV does'nt have a VGA input :( It's strange, but there is a hole that has been plugged by a plastic panel, maybe that's where the VGA input would normally be?

  • @thejoyofsticks i have found this on ebay ita a vga adapter lol.your tv has vga i know because you have the exact same tv as me lol except mine is a 42 inch.heres the link - w w w.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATARI-ST-VGA-MONITOR-ADAPTER-NO-SOUND-LEAD-CABLE-/390236060251?pt=UK_VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item5adbe1ba5b remove the spaces from the www

  • @xboxmodder02 I have seen pictures of a few people that have used one and it does improve the picture. I understand it doesn't change the information coming through the cable, but when your telly struggles with old analogue signals, it can improve things significantly. It's all academic, as my telly doesn't work with the device at all :(

  • @thejoyofsticks that adapter just outputs the SCART signal through component. You wont get any better from it than you would from the SCART socket.Them adapters are made for people that have run out of SCART sockets on their TV.so it converts the component into an aditional SCART socket. There is a RGB cable for the ST which i had for mine years ago which was used to connect it to a monitor.

  • @thejoyofsticks Thanks appreciated. ST items come up very rarely in Aus (especially software), will keep on looking out for it and of course a copy of Dungeon Master.
