  • She's definitely playing a French Creole of color in the film and did a superb job throughout. I thought she was graceful and charming and very effective. Anne Rice. (author of the book)

  • Its funny to hear her accent but i think its kinda hot *blushes*

  • @mdani06 but what other options stuff they have?

  • @mdani06

the women of color, under American chattel slavery, were being raped by the white man, with no way of defense.

some of them decided to make them pay. the creoles & the quadroons.

  • @EbonyLoveAndMarriage

yes, and they called them 'fancy girls' and every plantation had them.

America has a most corrupt history. if only the history books would tell the truth.

  • ouch mdani! i think these women were heroes at surviving! they used what they had to survive, because the could not vote, could BARELY own property and were not protected by the law like other citizens...i admire them for the courage to (many times) do what they truly didnt want to do in order to just attain some rights...it was difficult to be of African descent back then, so I don't blame or judge them AT ALL for taking the few opportunities life gave them

  • Well Dear, if you read The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews- and you get to the chapter on how the Jewish slave owners treated women, you will see that in many places, Including New Orleans, they would BREED African women - by white men sleeping with them- to continue making a certain type of woman that they fancied having for the sake of sex & prostitution. Very repulsive & Perverse but it did happen..They had Quadroon balls as well- for WM who wanted these type of women.

  • Is this the REAL Anne Rice?!?!?!

  • Does she try to have a french accent ? Because it produces the same effect to me. (I'm french and I speak English like that, that's funny and ridiculous !! xD)

  • Damn! This movie is great, but it kinda make the creole woman look bad. Im creole my self. It just showd how back then the women were Golddiggin Prostitutes. Wow, how thing never change. but, this is a great movie and all of America needs to watch this!!

  • i'm sorry for beeing unaware but is that right that JB's character is a bawd???

  • perhaps you are a descendant of an arab who made this all possible, hmmm?
