@RamBam3000 After years of saying so, he claimed it to have been just a stunt in a highly-publicized 1983 Rolling Stone interview (funny how it "just happened" to be right after the AIDS crisis hit...), which he took back in an '02 Playboy interview, and since then has basically just told anyone asking about the issue to get a life.

@RamBam3000 The title of this song was used for a film about the romantic relationship between a seventies singer who's absolutely not David Bowie and a male singer who's absolutely neither Iggy Pop nor Lou Reed, in the nineties, when Bowie was still claiming to be 100% straight. They have sex to the tune of "Satellite of Love," a Lou Reed song with Bowie signing backup.
Bowie sued, allegedly for copyright infringement, because no lawyer on Earth could sell "David Bowie likes men" as libel.
