"For us, it's not a question of asking for land. We know it's our land. The problem is that the province figures it's theirs and they keep issuing licenses - permits to the oil and gas industry and also to the logging industry. It's been a long, hard struggle. They're finding more and more oil and gas and now we're talking tar sands."
In "Our land, my people", a new half-hour documentary by Amnesty International, the Lubicon Cree of northern Alberta tell the story of their long struggle defend their culture and way of life.
I totally agree with your first sentence in regard to the land belonging to no one. Greed is not just limited to the whiteman and I state this coming from a rez. As for permission for this to happen, we all play a role and are guilty. Peace to you Windsong14.

This land belongs to no one but the creator who gave it to us. The trouble with greed its what funds the whiteman's pocket and kills the unborn. The one who gave permission for this to happen, is also responsible for global warming.
