PLEASE WATCH OUR VIDEOS IN A BETTER QUALITY ON OUR NEW CHANNEL chrismayka.

Chris plays on his Suzuki chromatic harmonica SCX-64, 64 notes, in key of C, a version of the song "OLD FRIEND".

It's an ODE to JEAN BAPTISTE (his real firstnames) THIELEMANS, because he is a worldfamous Harmonicaplayer and I like several of his songs very much.

At the moment Mr Thielemans is 86 years old, lives in Belgium, my neighbour-country, in the capital city of Brussels, and he is still performing in theaters all over Europe, it's quite an achievement!

My special thanks to my beloved wife "Mayka", she recorded this video and she advised me on the small scale of note-changing in this song.

  • Dear Bryan,

Thanks again for your kind comment and visiting all my videos, and listening to all my songs!!

I played each song with a lot of pleasure, and I enjoyed it very much!!

I play my chromatic Harmonicas since January this year, so I am just a beginner with these instruments you know, for each song I have to practice 5 or 6 weeks, 2 or 3 hours a day, because I want to play all my songs without any off-key notes and in the right tempo.

    I use a metronome now.

    I wish you well,

    Bye Chris

  • Hi Ben,

    I hope you are well!

Thanks very much for your kind comment.

I played this song because I am a fan of Toots Thielemans, a worldfamous harmonica-player as you know.

I play my chromatic harmonicas since january of this year, and I constantly try to improve myself. At my last vido "Abide with Me" I used for the first time a metronome, and as you can hear I play the tempo much better now.

At the moment I am practising the song "The Rose" from Bette Midler.

    Have a nice day,

    Bye Chris

  • wow,

you can play on different key!

  • Dear Theodora,

Thanks for your reaction, very kind of you.

I played this song on my favorite chromatic Harmonica SCX-64, 16 holes, 64 notes in Key of C, with 4 octaves, so: note C very low, than note C higher, than note C more higher, and than note C the highest, just as I explained you yesterday in my other messages to you. Did you receive these messages in your YouTube-Inbox?

I am glad you enjoyed my song and playing!

    Keep on harpin.

    Greetings Chris-The Netherlands.

  • Well played in English sir.

With C higher he means, C1 which the lowest, C2, C3, C4. Now everybody will understand it

    Greetz.

  • Hi Laurens,

Thanks for your comment about playing my song,

and thanks to for your explanation about playing this song in several octaves.

You are right, everybody will understand it now.

    Greetings Chris.
