Citizens in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada gathered on December 21, 2011 to commemorate a forgotten mutiny of French-Canadian soldiers in the 259th Battalion of the Canadian Expedition Force (Siberia), who refused to leave Victoria for Vladivostok 93 years earlier. The event was held at the same time and location as the original mutiny, 9AM at the corner of Fort and Quadra streets in downtown Victoria. The group is calling for a pardon for the soldiers and an apology for their families.
