Grade Retention Is Not Harmful To Children
EEC 3009 - Foundations in Early Childhood Care and Education: Birth to Age 8

Our class was given a pro/con project in which we are advocates for a major issue in Early Childhood Education and Development. My topic was on grade retention and how it is not harmful to students. These are just facts and not all are personal opinions. With that in mind, I feel grade retention can serve a purpose depending on an individual basis and more importantly, when a child is retained or given a second opportunity at a young age. The first years, particularly school years, are crucial. If a child does not grasp basic information, pushing them forward will only perpetuate the underlining issue(s).
