@brian93ist most farms in North America put silage right on the ground, or in the field, pits in the sides of hills! Some have been making silage for decades and still can't see that they should be investing in a real, quality, long lasting concrete walled and floored pit and no longer be wasting feed. At least in Canada its so cold that winter feeding doesnt involve mud !

@JD7950 so you just put your silage on the ground? my friend had a concrete floor and sides where he puts his he puts a tarp over the top
Yeah those dairy´s always stacked the silage on the ground without any concrete in between. in california it rarly rains so they havent got much trouple with mud. It seems that they wont worry about dirt in their silage. And I think it would be way too expensive for this amount of silage.
Here in germany thats totaly different. Always on concrete ground and walls,
