This is the main theme from the "andante" movement of Mozart's piano concerto #21 in C major (K. 467). The theme was used in the soundtrack of the 1967 Swedish film, ELVIRA MADIGAN, and since then it has been called "The Elvira Madigan Concerto".

This is a theremin transcription of the theme played on the Moog Ethervox.

  • Great job, Peter! I thought the trill was a bit overdone, but the rest was really quite good. Nice job nailing the descending intervals! BRAVO! I think this is one of the best offerings I've heard from you. Certainly my favorite. Thanks for posting it!

  • @DavesTrumpet Thanks Dave. Nice to hear from you as always. About the trill - Mozart wrote a semitone trill from E to F lasting a full bar (four beats of alternating 32nd notes). I always worry when trying to play this sort of classic baroque ornament on a theremin that it is going to end up sounding like "IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE".......I guess it did!

  • Lovely. All of you who dare these Melodies on the Theremin deserve high praise... and I thought these machines were strictly for Sci-Fi music and courageous Frenchmen. I am really tempted to buy one. btw/ , is that sculpture on stage left the amp. and speaker? Thanks

  • What a talent.. Bows to you and Mr. Termen.

  • Coperleaves, you have a great talent! How do you hit the proper notes? You seem to get all of them just right! Your a true Mozart Theremin master! Keep up the great work!

  • Love it !!! You are a true master of the art.

  • @riotmaker7771 The antenna on the right is the volume, the one on the left is the pitch

  • How well does it respond to guitar pedals , like and ocatver or delay , reverb stuff like that ?

    wah wah maybe ?

  • how does that work

  • You're really really really really good

  • @copperleaves I thought this was great - trill included. But then again, I have no issue with things sounding like "It Came From Outer Space". I embrace the other-worldly quality of the Theremin and, despite my unbridled admiration for Clara Rockmore, have resisted her anti-scifi perspective. All that being said, that's just how a trill sounds on a Theremin, and so? Fine by me. This is simply expertly played: beautiful. So, bravo!
