In the sixth inning on Sunday, Jim Thome crushed home run No. 596 into the second deck in right field, a blast that was measured at 490 feet ! ! !
Thome's three-run shot topped his previous Target Field record blast of 480 feet, which hit off the flag pole beyond right field last September.

Jim Thome is a HOF baseball player. Even more important than that, the man has integrity and his credential are impeccable. But, please, do not stain his name or reputation with outlandish claims like "longest homer ever," because that would be a complete fabrication. Obviously, you are a young fellow who never saw the great long distance homers: Mickey Mantle, Jimmy Foxx, Kingman, and Ruth. See the baseball almanac article.
