ALL NEW! During CBS's airing of The Wiz, they popped in with a Special Report chronicling the results of the Texas primary during Campaign 84. This is followed by the CBS Staff announcer advising viewers that The Wiz would pick up where it left off (as opposed to some robot- generated generic message that would occur today), then its plugs for Sears, Hallmark, HBO, and Kal Kan.

"The Wiz will continue at the point it was interrupted". But not before we squeeze some commercials in.
Judging from the Sears spot, the later logo that can still be seen on a lot of the stores must have debuted later in 1984.

I wish they'd cut off all reality and all horrible shows today on CBS, I hate it!

CBS Broadcast Operations in NYC started pausing CTN (CBS Television Network) programming for short CBS News Special Reports News with the 1976 presidential primary season coverage. This compromise kept the entertainment-fixated audiences from kvetching over missing a small bit of a program to learn some important news (TV's real core purpose--news, information, and education). Not sure why this practice was not followed with CNSR when Mr. Arafat died and "CSI:NY" fans and CTN execs went crazy.

That's hard to believe CBS would interrupt The 1978 Movie "The Wiz" and continue where it left off because back then it would always say we now rejoin the program already in progress meaning part of the program was not shown because of this, take Soap Operas and Game Shows for example.
