Beginning with a morning shot of Trishul (and if it were a clear day Nanda Devi) from Kausani, this video then shows scenes along the road to Almora, a hill station at about 5000 feet in the Kumaon Himalayan foothills. I am riding front seat in a small bus for a great view!
Then there are shots of Almora itself.
The first building is where I stayed most of the time, the "Holiday Home - Sister Nivedita's cottage". This small hotel used to be a house owned by a Western lady who was a disciple of Vivekananda. She was called Sister Nivedita and she hosted him there in rooms that are still preserved with photos and furniture from those days.
Then there are shots along the Upper Mall which is very long pedestrian avenue along the main ridge, the center of town. Many of the old buildings there feature elaborately carved window frames. After this there are shots of the largest of the many little temples on the Upper Mall, a quick cut to the government operated Vivekananda Agriculture Research Institute (VPKAS) where I taught a TM course, and then students at the lower campus of the Maharishi Vidya Mandir which is just below VPKAS and Sister Nivedita's.
These videos were taken in the summer of 2008.
