Opening a bottle of Dom Perignon Vintage 2000. I had to remove the wire cage to open the bottle, which some say you shouldn't do because the cork to explode out of the bottle. You can hear a faint "whisper" as the cork is removed.

why didn't you release the cage first?

  • The cage was stuck to cork and removing it may have released the cork. So, using the towel, I released the cage first. The clip is edited and you can see the cage to the right side of the image after 0:25.

  • Not a bad technique. But after having opened hundreds of bottles of champagne, the best technique is to firmly grasp the cork, place the bottle on a table top right side up, and rotate the bottle while keeping a firm grip on the cork, not allowing it to rotate with the bottle. Apply pressure to the cork towards the bottle (yeah, I know this is contrary to what you would think). Continue turning the bottle until the cork finally slides out very slowly. You'll have 100% control every time!

  • Is that one liter?

  • Smooth operator! Smooth operator!

  • If you are gonna pour something you might aswell drink it

  • @CleverDjembe I personally like the '64.

  • Now thats how you open a bottle of champagne!!!!!

  • Nice opening ^^

  • @CleverDjembe Yea, I am from the working-class. I have tried Dom Perignon and other wines. $2-$500 bottles. The point is, I will give the CEO of twitter or whoever with a mansion a $5 bottle of Barefoot... I'd rather give a "low-class" person (as you say) a glass of Methuselah.

  • @JayBrownAlpha

Well, have you ever had working-class people visiting your mansion? Offering them the premium vintages is like casting pearls before swine.
