Not talking about other toolbar. Talking about it's own space. Icons or folders created by something on desktop are getting placed UNDER dock. The only way to get them is shutdown dock move it and start it again. For some reason recycler in dock has 12 lines in right click context. I wish i don't have to have all those nexus lines in right click, only those for windows recycler. Options for each nexus icon can be done different way.

Nexus Preferences -> Position tab -> Enable 'Prevent maximized windows from ovelaping the dock' setting.

This also prevents desktop icons from appearing under the dock - it's how the Windows taskbar does it too. You do NOT need to exit Nexus to get at them even when that setting is disabled - just hide the dock by double clicking the control icon, and bump the screen edge when you want it back.

Nexus is a very powerful and flexible dock, but you need to take your time to learn what it can do.

I did go through all preferences. I remember no overlap feature which gets me almost there. But i want to have windows maximized over dock just like xp allowed me. Either you allow overlap or not, once dock is locked in place it should not let icons under because obviously i can't use them there. No overlap also makes funny cut of top border for some reason (:\\i1105*photobucket*com\albums\h347\tall70\desktop06*jpg). Well lol it's all crying over nothing, i just like my little features.

Look, it's a question of choices, just set the dock to auto-hide then (or you can simply double click the control icon, as I explained already). The Windows taskbar behaves in exactly the same way: you can either set it to auto-hide, in which case icons appear under it when open and windows maximize to full screen (but the taskbar auto-hides when not in use), or you can set it *not* to auto-hide, in which cases it neither covers desktop icons nor allows maximized windows to cover it.

It looks good and it's customizable so i can match it with my windows style. BUT too many downfalls for which it can never match my original windows xp bar. Does not respect space where it's located. If icon represents drive, icons are most of time not updating. Right click context is not customizable, takes to much to find empty recycler in 12 lines. Flashy, not as functional. Never found one which has these basics working. Unfortunately with windows7 this feature has been removed.

    1. What version were you running? Some run old versions and do not update even when prompted, then complain about missing features that have been implemented in later versions.

    2. The dock can respect space reserved by other toolbars and it can reserve screen space of its own.

    3. You complain about finding the Empty Recycler option in a context menu but want the added complexity of customizable context menus?! It's not the dock apps, it's you who have unrealistic expectations, sorry...

Depends on what effects you turn on, what dock background image you are using, and many other factors, obviously. This said, if your system has so little RAM that this has to be a concern, perhaps it's time to buy a new PC. I sincerely don't understand questions about dock's RAM usage these days: do you realize that the web browser you are using to read this uses *5* times more RAM than *any* of the available docks just to display a *single* web page?
