TES V: Skyrim - Skyforge Steel Swords versus Silver Swords

... Skyforge steel swords win.

This is part of the Companions questline where you fight the Silver Hand (no spoilers). I'm dual wielding skyforge steel swords (obtainable from the Companions blacksmith) with the Elemental Fury shout (puts a buff on both weapons that drastically increases attack speed, not usable on enchanted weapons). Most of my perks are in the one handed tree, with one point in the sword perk for added critical strike chance. That's why you see so many brutal finishers.

is the skyforge steel legendary better than daedric legendary sword?? plz tell

@ABARATTA3 No, not at all. Smithing is sort of weird in that the lower tier weapons scale at the same right as the upper-tier ones until you hit legendary, then it will stop scaling. So elven and ebony swords start becoming better than skyforge swords at like 75 smithing skill or so. Now I'm using a daedric and an ebony mace, both legendary quality. I one shot bosses on master difficulty :-/

@RebelSword doesn't that mean you can use the same methods with a daedric weapon and enhance it even more powerful?

It is true that skyforge steel can be upgraded higher than even the daedric weapons..with perks of course ie 100 smithing, 100 enchanting 100 alchemy...make alchemy potion high as poss, use it then make smithy and enchant potion high as poss...go to enchant table and use enchant potion..enchant items with smithy..then use smith potion and wear smithy clothes then upgrade armour and weapons...i didnt get alchemy to 100 but made sky steel to 400 damage with 1 hand perks used when wielding.

Anybody had the problem where upgrading Skyforge swords to fine makes a bug where you can't equip them both in the favourites, because they somehow split up when you equip one?

@ABARATTA3 In my experience skyforge steel is better. i have my smithing 100 and bracers,ring,neclace,androbes all do +%37 smithing and +%50 potion and my best gear is wolf armor, which is also much lighter than daedric, and skyforge sword and mace. what i did notice is that i cant upgrade skyforge dagger. i have a 360 dont know about the rest

@68kaleb It's at the very end of the Companions' quest line, I heard. Lol, thats a lot of entertaining solo missions though, one of which in the beginning allows you to become a warewolf.

They are equal unless you have smithing maxed and drink a potion/elixir of smithing before hand...then yes Skyforge steel tends to creep away from any other metal or glass.

Thats from experience. My character is expert smith and Im gonna experiment with skyforge steel with smithing potions at the Lunar forge and then equip a pair of guantlets that add a 35% increase to one-handed weapons.

Thats another way to increase stats ..use enchantments plus enchanted items..
