http://www.FilutowskiEye.com | LASIK corrects nearsigthedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Why do some people need glasses or contacts to see clearly?
Light rays pass through the cornea, the clear outer covering of the eye, and are focused on the retina at the back of the eye. If the cornea is not correctly shaped, the light will not focus properly on the retina. When this happens, the eye will have what are known as refractive errors. These include nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Glasses and contact lenses correct these refractive errors. The goal of LASIK is to eliminate the need for corrective lenses by reshaping the cornea permanently.
