Wasn't Bobby Hamiltons spin the final caution of the race? Correct me if I'm worng, this was the first NASCAR race I ever saw and I remeber the Hamilton crash being he last.

I remember watching this live, and I thought something went in there too. If you watch closely though, I think it just bounced off, what you are seeing in the cockpit is the shattered glass. Thanks for posting!
