All this whining about Obama being "unpatriotic" because did not cover his heart during the pledge.
Well, it WAS NOT the pledge, it was the national anthem and modern custom does not require a hand over the heart. But if you watch closely: He is the ONLY one singing! Clinton clearly is not, Richardson might be.
So, who is the unpatriotic one?
United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note..

I can't believe he and/or his handlers wouldn't have realized how foolish this was to simply ignore the law for a politician. For those that aren't aware of it, and even if you weren't taught that it is a law, then you are free to continue not practicing the hand over your heart. Back to Obama, he was either ignorant or made a conscious decision to rebel against something so simple and yet so symbolic of a person's love and respect for their country. Neither option had an upside for him.

We never learned to put hands over the heart for the anthem, just for the pledge. My hometown was full of WWII vets (my dad included) and I'm sure we would have done that if it was proper. This is some new bs the the Republican's started in the last election to make OBAMA look bad. How many people sing the anthem in public?? I do. With my hands by my side where they will stay.

FYI, The National Anthem isn't supposed to be sung like it is in the video either. Everyone that sings it, puts their own little twist into it. Yes some of they ways it's sung does sound good, but not all of em' lol

I just came across this video today and want to point out that the proper conduct during the national anthem is to place your hand over your heart. You need to go to google and type in US flag code #171. I am sorry to point out that you are wrong about modern customs.
